Configurations

The AccessZone Control System is the next generation of wireless access control systems that can be used in any environment. You can quickly and efficiently control and track access to your site or restricted area. It has been designed with high focus on reliability and usability.
The AccessZone Control System can be deployed in almost any environment and in many different system configurations to meet customers' individual requirements. It excels in all scenarios where you want to prevent unauthorized access. Where you want to quickly and conveniently grant access to a limited number of users and track user access.
The AccessZone Control System provides virtually unlimited flexibility and countless possibilities.

 

Installation Configuration

he AccessZone Control System can be installed in an almost infinite number of configurations. Preferably all indoor systems are installed with wire connections to avoid interference from WLAN and defraction, refraction, fading and multi-path propagation due to walls in the vicinity etc. Outside it uses a wireless Bluetooth link to avoid costly installation of cables from the gate (port/bump) to the building.

 

Below a few examples:

A GateController is connected to PcManagement via an encrypted bluetooth connection. Bluetooth is used to exchange information with the users bluetooth keys:

PcManagement is wirelessly connected to a GateController which controls a slider gate and two RS422 (or LAN) cabled entry doors:

Using long Cables and LAN

AccessZone Control System can be used with very long cables and LAN (Local Area Network).
The AccessZone GateController System can be connected to a PC running AccessZone PcManagement System with cable lengths up to 1.2 km's length using the RS422 standard. RS232 cables can be used for distances up to 5 meters. The PC must also support the RS232/RS422 interface. A USB-to-RS232 adapter cable up to 5 meters can be used if the PC does not support RS232/RS422 interface.
It is also possible to connect the AccessZone GateController System to an existing LAN in the building. This saves costs for installing new cables. The AccessZone PcManagement System connected with LAN can be connected to the AccessZone GateController through a virtual COM-port on the PC. There is no need to install new and expensive cables in the building. LAN also makes it possible to do remote monitoring (WAN) of AccessZone GateController System installed remote from the AccessZone PcManagement System. Thus it is possible to manage multiple geographic locations from the central site.

 

Coverage Range

The AccessZone Control System can be configured to run with different coverage ranges depending on the type of gate (port, bump or door) to open and the surroundings. The required coverage range for a inside door will, in most cases, be shorter than for a outside port. The coverage range can be adjusted in the AccessZone PcManagement System user friendly graphical interface - simple and quick.
The coverage range is set in the AccessZone PcManagement System and is exclusive for each individual AccessZone GateController System controlled by the AccessZone PcManagement System. The versatile configuration possibilities fulfill almost all customer use cases.
It is possible to achieve a longer coverage range by using directional antennas (optional). The coverage range in one direction can be increased to more than 500 meters allowing it to detect SBD-Keys in moving vehicles from a distance.

 

Simple Access Reader

The AccessZone Control System is also available as a simple access reader – The AccessReader. The unique Bluetooth ID is read from SBD-Keys in the vicinity by the AccessZone GateController System and sent to the AccessZone PcManagement System containing the database with known user SBD-Keys. The AccessZone PcManagement System grants access by sending an open gate (port, bump or door lock) command to the AccessZone GateController System if the SBD-key is valid and according to the SBD-Keys settings. The AccessZone Control System can in this setup control the access for an almost infinite number of user SBD-Keys only limited by the resources on the PC running the AccessZone PcManagement System.

 

Bluetooth and RFID Reader

The AccessZone Control System can also be made available with a RFID reader (currently not supported). It is with this setup possible to upgrade an existing access control system using RFID with the ability to read the unique Bluetooth ID from e.g. a mobile phone. It is subsequently possible to gradually make a transition to Bluetooth technology, or decide to use both technologies in a combined solution.

 

LonWorks and Wiegand

The AccessZone Control System can also be made available with a LonWorks or Wiegand interface (currently not supported). It is with this setup possible to upgrade an existing access control system using LonWorks or Wiegand with the ability to read the unique Bluetooth ID from e.g. a mobile phone and thereby gain access to the secured area. The AccessZone GateController System embeds a LonWorks or Wiegand interface allowing it to be a node in the LonWorks network.
LonWorks (Local Operating Network) is based on the LonTalk protocol which was developed by Echelon in 1988. It has become an industry standard in many building subsystems such as HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning), lighting, power monitoring and access control. It is known as the ANSI/EIA709.1 standard.
BACnet, EIB (European Installation Bus) or KNX are other network standards.

 

Biometric Reader

The AccessZone Control System can also be made available with a biometric reader. Read the finger print and send the user ID to AccessZone PcManagement System (currently not supported).

 

Lock Gate Function

The AccessZone Control System can be configured to work in a lock gate function. This configuration requires 2-3 AccessZone GateController Systems. This ensures that access is only possible in one direction at a time. The size of the lock gate can be individual adjusted to meet all possible situations – from small person lock gates to big truck lock gates.

 

Remote Desktop

It is with remote desktop possible to remote control the AccessZone PcManagement System from another PC. Access can be supervised and access can be granted from the distance

 

Use SMS as Access Key

AThe AccessZone Control System can also open the gate (port, bump or door) upon receiving a SMS. The AccessZone GateController must be running in normal mode, i.e. it has a connection, either with a Bluetooth or a wired link, to a PC running the AccessZone PcManagement System. The AccessZone PcManagement System contains the database with known user SBD-keys and grants access if the SMS can be authenticated and according to the settings for the SMS key.
In this manner it is possible for a visitor to call Security or reception which then sends a SMS to open the gate (port, bump or door) from a distance for the waiting visitor. With this great feature the security personnel or reception is able to open the gate (port, bump or door) to the secured area without having to be close to the PC running the AccessZone PcManagement System.

 

Denial Of Service - DoS

There are no effective ways to avoid DoS attacks. However, you can do a lot to reduce the risk.
You can do a lot to avoid DoS attacks. First of all, it's important to secure the PC running AccessZone PcManagement System. Vulnerabilities can be exploited to make a DoS attack where the attacker stops system service or takes control of the system:

  • Install a well-known anti-virus program and make sure to keep it updated
  • Install a firewall and configure it properly
  • Make sure to install all security updates for Windows XP/Vista from Microsoft
  • Have fixed procedures to handle SBD-Keys and PIN codes

AccessZone Control System is designed to resist DoS attack, i.e. the security will never be compromised in case of an DoS attack.
